DO M.Ost., Reg. Osteopath, MONZ

I’m a registered Osteopath who trained in the UK and graduated with a Master’s degree from the European School of Osteopathy, a world-renowned institution for osteopathic training. In 2015 I moved to New Zealand, where I have worked in Palmerston North, Wellington, and now on the beautiful Kapiti Coast.

My journey to osteopathy began when an Osteopath helped me recover from my own back injury. Because of this, I do enjoy treating lower back pains, particularly with long term, chronic pain. I have undergone postgraduate training in lower back pain rehabilitation through specific exercises and improving motor patterns.

I have a special interest in visceral osteopathy, the gentle treatment of inner organs and their relationships to the musculoskeletal system. Visceral manipulations can be highly effective in the treatment of digestive/respiratory disorders, women’s health complaints and post-surgical scars. Every year I further my training in the art of visceral manipulations with the Barral Institute as to better help my patients.

In my free time I can be found pottering in our vegetable garden, bush walking and expressing myself through dance.

Postgraduate Qualifications:

Paediatric motor and movement development courses with Rhythmic Movement Training

Pelvic girdle and perineal pains in women’s health with Dr Elizabeth Howard

Lower back pain assessment and rehabilitation training with Prof. Dr Stuart McGill

Ongoing yearly education in visceral manipulations with the Barral Institute

My Treatment Style

I take a gentle approach to treatments. My treatment style is a combination of mobilisations, myofascial work, low-force techniques, muscle release and cranial techniques. In my work I rarely use joint ‘cracking’ or ‘thrust’ techniques. Each treatment is different depending on your presenting problem and what your body needs. There is no standardised ‘one size fits all’ way of treating the human body.
